First Lady of the Republic of India Savita Kovind, who accompanied her husband President Ram Nath Kovind, on an official visit – Wednesday, May 18th to Friday, May 20th – to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, took time out to make a generous donation of USD 25,000 to the Governor General Charitable Fund. The handing over was made at the School for Children with Special Needs (SCSN), Kingstown, which the First Lady, her daughter and others members of the official Indian Presidential entourage visited on Thursday, 19th May. The students were all smiles and showered the delegation with hugs to which both the First Lady and the Governor General reciprocated. The First Lady and her daughter came bearing gifts of chocolates which the students excitedly accepted. H.E. Susan Dougan, Governor General expressed her gratitude for the generous donation. Principal of the SCSP-Naseem Smith, Cabinet Secretary Kattiann Barnwell and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Myccle Burke were among those who witnessed the handing over of the cheque. President Ram Nath Kovind is the first Indian Head of State to visit this country.
