Jamaica Records 1,269 New COVID-19 Cases

Jamaica has recorded 1,269 COVID-19 cases – a new daily high.   The cases were confirmed from 2,300 samples resulting in a positivity rate of  45.9 per cent.   COVID-19 hospitalisations have increased to 219, up from 204 on Wednesday.   Twenty two of those admitted are severely ill while four are in critical condition.   Meanwhile, three more persons have died from COVID-19 in Jamaica, increasing the death toll to 2,489.   Two of the deaths were recorded in Kingston and one in St. Elizabeth.   The fatalities occurred between December 19 and January 4.
