The North Central Division along with several of its partner law enforcement agencies, undertook a massive joint anti-crime exercise yesterday, aimed at removing illegal firearms and narcotics from its communities and restoring a sense of safety and security.

During the exercise, which took place between 1 pm and 5 pm, on Thursday 4th August, 2022, simultaneous roadblocks were conducted along the Eastern Main Road, the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and the Priority Bus Route.

As a result, four suspects, ages 18 to 45, all of St. James, were arrested for possession of a quantity of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing into this matter
Officers also issued 55 tickets to errant drivers for various traffic offences
The exercise was initiated by ACP Samaroo and Snr. Supt. Ramphall, coordinated by Supt. Powder, W/ASP (Ag.) Powder, ASP Ramharrack and Insp. Highly and included officers of all stations, Criminal Investigations Departments and Task Forces within the Division
The effort was supported by personnel from the Guard and Emergency Branch, the Inter-Agency Task Force, the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, the Canine Branch, the Transit Police, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the Licensing Office and Traffic Wardens
